Jobs, jobs, jobs

Well, I had another job interview this morning. I think this one went better than the last one. This was with a language school in Moscow. At the end of the interview, the guy interviewing me said that he couldn't offer me the job outright because he had to confer with his colleagues, but that he was going to highly recommend me to them (like how I split my infinitive there?).

Anyway... We shall see.

Yeah about the split infinitives. I don't encounter too many problems with students coming in with red ink all over split infinitives. What I see now is a complete, uncritical hatred of passive voice. I have students coming in telling me that their professors (usually MA teaching assistants) have commanded them to NEVER use the passive voice. I have a little talk about the passive voice that I give (which touches on style, clarity, politics, and necessity).

By the way, you really shouldn't have said that about the Wisdom Teeth Removal. You KNOW I'm going to have to say something now. I can't help it; it is like a switch in my brain has just been flipped.
